Although officially formed in late 2019, the story of Diver goes back a few years prior when singer/songwriter Ruston Taylor and pianist Michael Forno began jamming and writing together. Taylor’s love of all things Rock and Forno’s natural swing on the keys was an instant match. However after a number of failed projects and collaborations, combined with a general lack of direction, the pair decided it was time to get serious. In the spring of 2019, drummer Miller Brand joined the duo, and the sound of Diver began to evolve. The band was completed in early 2020 when bassist Jordan Mitchley jumped on board.
The band quickly got to work writing and recording, and soon developed a unique bond, driven by a shared passion for creating quality songs. When the early works of Taylor and Forno met the beats and rhythms of Brand and Mitchley, a new direction was fast being forged. Shinny guitar chords were met with shimmering synth hooks, all wrapped tightly within a pulsing back beat.
While for most people, 2020, was a year to forget, it represented the start of big things to come for Diver. In early November, Diver released their first single Seabreeze Motel, which received high praise for its catchy hook and memorable melodies.
After a run of sold out Sydney shows at iconic venues such as Frankies Pizza, Moshpit and Lazybones, Diver announced that a second single was on the way.
'Sober' is the explosive new single and is NOW OUT EVERYWHERE!
